Selangor Study Trip
On 9 January 2026, GIT Academy Outdoor Tourist Guide Course students took part in a Selangor Study Trip, exploring heritage and cultural sites across Shah Alam and Klang. The trip was led by trainers Dr Samantha Yap and Mr Chow Hoong Fai, with 24 students taking part.
The day’s itinerary took students through several distinct stops that highlighted Klang Valley’s layered cultural heritage: a visit to Ban Seng Hong, a heritage trading house reflecting the area’s early commercial history; a stop for the region’s well-known bak kut teh, giving students a chance to connect local food culture to their guiding commentary; Guan Yin Pavilion, a place of worship offering insight into local religious and community life; Panchor Story House, a heritage exhibition space preserving local stories and history; and a visit to a local temple rounding out the day’s cultural stops.
Study trips like this give Outdoor Tourist Guide Course students the chance to experience Selangor’s heritage sites firsthand — building the kind of first-hand, on-the-ground knowledge that’s essential for delivering authentic, well-informed commentary to future visitors.
