Malaysia Tourist Guide Badminton Tournament 2026
On 30 August 2026 (Sunday), GIT Academy organized the Malaysia Tourist Guide Badminton Tournament 2026, bringing together tourist guides, students and industry friends for a full day of friendly doubles competition at Sports Arena Sentosa (3rd Floor, Premier Court), Jalan Sri Sentosa 2A, Taman Seri Sentosa, Kuala Lumpur, running from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
The tournament was jointly organized by GIT Academy alongside a Malaysian folk culture tourism association, with the event carrying the “Nihao China” branding seen across staff t-shirts and event signage — reflecting GIT Academy’s close ties with the wider China-Malaysia tourism trade community.
The day opened with player registration and a safety briefing, which included a First Aid briefing conducted by a professional first aid team arranged by GIT Academy, ensuring all participants understood basic safety procedures before play began. The briefing also included a moment of silence for victims of a recent disaster in Nepal and well-wishes for the safety of tourism workers everywhere, before players moved into their assigned courts. The competition then progressed through a full knockout format: group stage matches from 8:30am, quarter-finals late morning, a lunch break with special programme segments, semi-finals in the early afternoon, and the Grand Final at 3:00pm.
The tournament was honoured by the presence of a VVIP guest, Mr Chan Hon Mun, Senior Deputy Director (Public Relations) of the Corporate Communications Division at Tourism Malaysia (Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board), who joined the closing ceremony to help present prizes to the tournament’s winners — a mark of Tourism Malaysia’s support for the grassroots community events that keep Malaysia’s tourist guide industry connected.
The day closed with a prize presentation ceremony recognising the tournament’s champion, runner-up and third-place finishers, followed by closing remarks and a full group photo with all participants and guests.
Events like this reflect an important, often-overlooked side of GIT Academy’s role in the tourism industry: not just training guides, but helping build the community and relationships that support a healthy, connected tourism trade in Malaysia.
