HL Dragon Fruits Eco Farm Visit

On 6 December 2025, GIT Academy Tourist Guide Course students visited HL Dragon Fruits Eco Farm on a field learning trip, led by trainer Dr Samantha Yap, with 26 students and staff taking part.

Under the farm owner’s guidance, students learned about dragon fruit varieties, cultivation practices, growing conditions, and how agritourism attractions are developed and run — giving them insight into how farm-based tourism sites operate as a distinct category of visitor attraction.

After the tour, students and staff enjoyed a dragon-fruit-themed lunch that showcased local specialty and creative cuisine, including dragon fruit nasi lemak, dragon fruit flower sambal, and dragon fruit coffee. Over the meal, students also practised how to introduce distinctive local food culture to visitors and weave it naturally into their guiding commentary.

The visit gave students a deeper appreciation of how agritourism and specialty cuisine work together as a tourism model. Beyond simply introducing an attraction, the trip reinforced that a strong tour guide also brings food experiences and cultural stories into the narrative — enhancing the overall visitor experience and the professionalism of the guiding itself.
