Saloma Link Visit

On 22 November 2025, GIT Academy took its Tourist Guide Course trainees out of the classroom and onto Saloma Link — the pedestrian bridge connecting Kampung Baru to the KLCC area in Kuala Lumpur. The visit was led by trainer Ms Yap PY as part of the course’s practical, real-site guiding component.

Saloma Link is a distinctive piece of Kuala Lumpur’s modern urban landscape, linking the historic Kampung Baru neighbourhood directly to the KLCC precinct. For trainee tourist guides, it’s an excellent case study in a very modern kind of Malaysian tourism attraction: a functional piece of city infrastructure that has become a destination in its own right, popular for its architecture and skyline views.

During the visit, students practised the same skills they’ll need on a real tour — site orientation, group management on a public walkway, and building a short commentary that connects a place’s design and history to what a visitor is actually seeing in front of them. Sessions like this complement the more traditional heritage-site training students receive elsewhere in the course, rounding out their guiding experience across both old and new Kuala Lumpur.
