On 22 November 2025, GIT Academy hosted a hands-on First Aid Knowledge While Tourist Guiding session for our Tourist Guide Course trainees, held at Room 1, Wisma LTS, Jalan Pudu. The session ran from 1:30pm to 4:30pm and was attended by 26 trainee tourist guides.

The session was led by trainer Mr Govinda Ram, an experienced first aid and emergency response instructor, and facilitated by Ms Yap PY. Rather than a purely theoretical class, the session focused on giving students practical, tour-ready skills they can actually use in the field.

Key areas covered included:

  • Basic first aid principles
  • Handling common tourist emergencies
  • CPR awareness
  • Managing injuries, fainting, and heat-related incidents
  • Emergency communication and response steps

Students responded well to the hands-on explanations and real-life examples, which helped build their confidence in staying calm and responding correctly during unexpected situations while guiding a tour group. First aid readiness is a core part of what makes a professional, MOTAC-licensed tourist guide reliable in the field — not just knowledgeable about destinations, but genuinely able to look after the safety of the people in their care.
